Notes |
Clyde Chestnut Barrow was born March 24, 1909. He was born in Telico, a tiny town just south of Dallas, Texas. He was the sixth of eight children. His parents, Cumie and Henry Barrow, were tenement farmers who raised cotton, pigs and chickens in the country. When Clyde was 12 years old, his father packed up the family and moved them to a slum in West Dallas. The Barrows were so poor that they lived under their wagon until Henry could find a large piece of canvas to make a tent. The Barrows lived in poverty most of their lives until they opened a filling station on Eagle Ford Road. |
