Description |
Quilt entitled "Crime does not Pay", ca. 1934. Made by Nancy Jane [Hughes] Harris (1880-1960) about 1934. Family legend notes that the quilt won first place at the state fair in Dallas but the year is unknown. 12 large block design with square that have the following designs (top to bottom, left to right) Top row: Little Charles Jr. Lindbergh, Kidnapped March 2, 1932; Bruno Hautmann (electric chair death in London); Little June Robles, Kidnapped Second row: John Dillenger (shown dead); President Roosevelt "Our Guide"; Baby Face Nelson, killed by G-men (shown dead) Third row: Bonnie and Clyde; title "Crime Does Not Pay"; Pretty Boy Floyd, Killed Oct 22 (shown dead) Fourth row: Raymond, Joe Palmer, Blackie Thompson; Triple Riddle of Trinty River, US Marshall J.R.
