William J McCauley was also know as W. J. McCauley and as "Billy" McCauley when he served in the Texas Rangers. His uncle was Captain William Jesse McDonald of the Texas Rangers. His mother was sister to William Jesse McDonald. McCauley died at the age of 37 on September 23, 1910. He died from complications of tuberculosis in Marlin, Texas and his body was shipped to Wichita Falls, where he is buried.
