Description |
Remington Model 8F rifle, .30 caliber, manufactured in 1922. Engraving found on the rifle with gold inlay and an inscription. The inscription on the left side reads, "Capt. Frank Hamer of the Texas Rangers". Below the inscription there is a man on horseback holding a gun at three bandits. There is also a five pointed star with the oak and olive leaves around it on the right side of the stock. Given to Frank Hamer by Remington Arms Company after an agent for the company witnessed Hamer's sharp shooting skills at the end of the Mexia occupation in which the Rangers shut down a gambling and bootlegging syndicate. It was Hamer's favorite hunting rifle and supposedly was with him at the Bonnie and Clyde shootout. S/N G49643 |
