La Fetra Elisha Trimble was born September 29, 1892 in Globe, Arizona. He received his nickname, Lee, from the initials of his first two names La Fetra Elisha. He enlisted in Company B commanded by Captain Jerry Gray on October 1, 1918. When the Ranger Service was reorganized in 1919 he went with his captain to Company A. Working along the Rio Grande his job was to intercept cattle rustlers and liquor smugglers. In 1922 he was sent to Smithville during a nationwide railroad strike. He was sent to Sealy in 1923 to investigate crimes involving the KuKlux Klan. He resigned in December 1924 to work as a range detective in the livestock industry. He also held a Special Ranger commission from 1933 to 1935. He passed away on July 14, 1985 in Concho County, Texas. |
