John Wesley Styles, also known as simply Wesley Styles, was born May 7, 1925 at Mabelle, Baylor County, Texas. He served in the US Army during WWII and earned a Purple Heart award. He returned to his home county to begin a career in law enforcement. He joined the Baylor County Sheriff's Office as a deputy in 1949, shortly becoming Chief Deputy, then appointed Sheriff in 1951, serving 18 years in that role. In 1969 Styles joined the Texas Rangers, serving in Co. A in Huntsville. He retired from the Ranger in 1989 and moved to Seymour, Texas to be an Investigator for the 50th Judicial District until his retirement in 1992. He was a Mason, and active in the Sheriff's Association of Texas. He passed away on Sept. 2, 1998. |
