Hollis Sillavan was born August 26, 1915 in Honey Grove, Texas. Growing up, his family moved around, finally settling in Austin County and he attended high school in Navasota. He went to work as a route saleman and truck driver for a food company. In 1942 he joined the Houston Police Department as a patrolman, and then promoted to detective work. After moving to Burton, he went to work for the Sheriff's Office. He was appointed to the Rangers in April 1956, serving in Company A for his entire career. He was instrumental in shutting down the gambling in Galveston, Texas, and retired in 1976. Afterwards, he was appointed a special investigator for Waller County District Attorney's Office briefly before he passed away on Jan. 28, 1977. |
