"Skippy" Rundell was born Oct. 5, 1918 in Delhi, Louisiana. He moved to Texas after graduating from high school and began working for the Texas DPS in 1941 as a Highway Patrolman. He joined the US Marine Corps in 1944 and served overseas in the Pacific. He rejoined the DPS after his discharge. In 1956 he was transferred to the Motor Vehicle Inspection Service. Then was soon transferred again, to the Intelligence Section as an agent. In 1959 he promoted to the Rangers, assigned to Co. A in Houston. He promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1969 and transferred to Co. F in Waco. He then again promoted to Captain of Co. C in Lubbock, before retiring in 1981. He specialized in criminal investigation and history of police. He passed away on August 11, 1997 in Austin, Texas. |
