William E. Renfrow was born in Arkansas on Aug. 20, 1899 to Samuel Wayne Renfrow and Martha E. Kesner. William Erastus "Razz" Renfrow married Velma Codie Scott and had 6 children. Prior to his career in law enforcment he was a cowboy and farmer. He served in several capacities in Bailey County, first as a County Commissioners from 1931-1934. Then he served as a Deputy Sheriff 1935-1938, and finally as Sheriff from 1939 until he resigned to join the Rangers. He enlisted in the Texas Rangers in co. C on October 23, 1944, and retired August 31, 1969. He was appointed a Special Ranger from his retirement until his death. He passed away on Feb. 18, 1976 in Lubbock, Texas. |
