Randall "Randy" Prince is a native of Waco, and has served in numerous capacities in DPS and the Texas Rangers. He is a graduate of Texas State University with a degree in criminal justice and also a graduate of the 216th FBI National Academy and of Class XXXII of the Governor’s Executive Development Program. Prince joined the Texas DPS in 1989 with the Texas Highway Patrol. In 1996 he was promoted to motor vehicle theft sergeant in Conroe and later became a sergeant with the Texas Rangers in Bay City and Tyler. He was promoted to lieutenant with the Texas Rangers in Houston in 2002 and also served as an inspector with the DPS Office of Audit and Inspection in Austin. In 2005, he moved to Lubbock to serve as captain and major of the Texas Rangers before being named to the Region 5 position. In 2014, Prince became was appointed Chief over the Texas Rangers and provided oversight and leadership in investigating major crimes; officer involved shooting incidents; apprehension of fugitives; border security operations; statewide tactical response teams; public integrity crimes; and the unsolved crimes investigation program. Randall Prince currently holds the rank of Deputy Director/Lt. Colonel for Law Enforcement Operations. Prince’s father is retired Texas Ranger Captain Bobby Prince. Prince’s wife is Karen, and he has two children, Morgan and Travis and his daughter-in-law Lindsay. |
