Jackie Peoples was born July 3, 1943 in Greenwood, Arkansas to Jack and Bernice Peoples. He grew up in Arkansas and then moved with his family to Texas. He joined the army after graduating high school in 1961, and a year spent studying at the University of Texas in Austin. He spent two years in Berlin with the Electronics Intelligence unit of the U.S. Army. Peoples joined the Texas DPS in 1965 with the Texas Highway Patrol. He promoted to the Rangers in 1974 and held the rank of Private, working in Company C in Lubbock. He retired from the Rangers in 1995 and worked for the Autotheft Task Force, Lubbock District Attorney's Office. |
