He began his career in law enforcement as a deputy sheriff in Polk County. He first joined the Texas Highwya Patrol in January 1930, working about a year and a half before resigning in July 1931. He later joined the Texas Rangers in 1944, first as a Criminal Investigator then as a Ranger in Co. A, in Houston and Huntsville. He retired from the Rangers in August 1969. |
