He joined the Texas DPS in 1971 with the Texas Highway Patrol. He promoted to Ranger in 1994 attained the rank of Sergeant and served in Company C in Plainview and Wichita Falls. His Ranger specializations included hypnosis, hostage negotiation, and firearms instructor.
