He attained the rank of Sergeant, specializing in hypnosis, polygraph examiner, blood spatter analysis, shooting incident reconstruction, and death investigation. He retired from the Rangers in 2011, becoming a Lecturer of Forensic Science at Baylor University, Waco, Texas.
