John A. Gillon was born in 1882 in Fredericksburg, Texas. He enlisted as a Sergeant in Co. C under Capt. Frank Hamer, Sept. 9, 1921. His occupation was listed as "Stockman" at this time. He participated in the raid at Mexia in early 1922. He resigned April 15, 1923, then reenlisted as a Private in Co. E under Capt. B. C. Baldwin, Sept. 1, 1923 and was discharged on Feb. 21, 1925. He was also enlisted as a Special Ranger in 1928, 1931 and 1933. |
