Notes	Stuart Dowell was born Jan. 20, 1932, in McAllen to Horton and Stella Peck Dowell. He grew up in Poteau, Okla., and lived in Corpus Christi, Hallettsville, Victoria and Garland. Dowell served in the U.S. Army in 1950 during the Korean War. He returned to Corpus Christi to work as a Patrolman with the Corpus Christi Police Department for 5 years. Dowell joined the Texas DPS in 1957 where he was stationed in Corpus Christi, Hallettsville and Victoria. He promoted to the Texas Rangers in 1969 and was stationed in Garland with Company B. He was transferred to Tyler in 1972 where he served as Texas Ranger until his retirement in March of 1987. Dowell was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served as security and was a member of the Pairs & Spares Sunday School Class.
