J. W. Bryce was enlisted as a Special Ranger from April 11, 1927 to May 31, 1927, for the cleanup of moonshining, gambling and other crime in Borger, Texas. Borger had became so notorious that Texas Governor Dan Moody sent a force of Texas Rangers to rein in the town. The Texas Rangers were led by Captains Frank Hamer and Thomas R. Hickman. |
