Reward Proclamation, dated May 14th,1888 signed by Governor L. S. Ross (Lawrence Sullivan Ross), former Ranger and general for the Confederacy. The Proclamation states that there is a $50 reward each for capture and delivery of "unknown persons" who cut a fence in Bastrop County. Fence cutting was made a felony in 1884 and was a particular problem throughout the 1880s. |
