After attending Texas A & M University for two years, Mr. Naylor joined the Texas Highway Patrol in November 1931. He served in the Highway Patrol until transferring to the DPS Bureau of Intelligence in March 1936. In January 1937, Naylor was transferred to the Texas Rangers, continuing special assignment as a Criminal Investigator with the Bureau of Intelligence and the Scientific Crime Detection Laboratory. This special assignment lasted until September 1939. Naylor continued serving in the Texas Rangers until December of 1946 when he again transferred into the Bureau of Intelligence. In June of 1948 Naylor resigned from DPS in order to help Gulf Oil Company set up a security division in their Venezuela office. November 1951 found him reinstated as a Chief Special Investigator with the DPS Bureau of Intelligence. He was promoted in September 1953 to Chief of the Narcotics Division, a position he held until resigning August 31, 1968. Naylor continued to do security and investigative work until his death August 23, 1978. |
